Chocolate Orange Cupcakes

Am I the only one who loves chocolate oranges at Christmastime? I can't be the only one. I mean, the stores do seem to sell quite a few of them after all! Chocolate oranges were always a tradition between my Dad and I when I was young - every Christmas would find him bringing one home for me and he'd crack it open and we'd share the slices - ah, a chocoholic in the making :) When I purchased some Orange Cream flavoring a few weeks ago, I just knew it was destined for cupcake greatness! I started with dark chocolate cupcakes (even threw in a little espresso powder for added kick), then frosted them with cream cheese frosting (with my orange cream flavoring mixed in) added dark chocolate sprinkles and finally - a slice of chocolate orange! And I must say, the overall flavor was quite tasty!

  1. Lovely cakes Becky, had a great time in your site this morning. I came via a search for Tigger! He's quite a tricky fellow to make from fondant. I made one of him jumping or is it bouncing? He's going to sit on top of a chocolate orange chequerboard cake for my blog next weekend. But I do love the look of those chocolate orange cupcakes and the sound of orange cream flavouring, it's just getting people to part with the chocolate orange on the first place! Happy Baking from Pauline.

  2. Pauline, thanks so much for the lovely comments and for visiting! :) That Tigger was trickier than I thought he'd be (which I'm finding seems to be the case with most projects!) If you're doing him bouncing - wow! That is some undertaking!! Can't wait to see how he turns out - I'll be sure to stop by and take a look!
