Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See Cupcakes

Wow, were these ever detailed work! Fun, but detailed to be sure! Vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting and hand made fondant/gum paste toppers to match scenes from "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" for a special little guy's Birthday!

Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cupcakes

So despite my extremely busy baking schedule over the weekend, I picked up some raspberries at the grocery store with the intention of using them in a cupcake at some point in time. When I remembered Sweetapolita's recipe for Dark Chocolate & Raspberry Buttercream Cupcakes with Chocolate Glaze, I knew I'd found what I needed! :) Oh, raspberry swiss meringue - there simply are no words! I chose to keep my raspberries whole and tossed them into my vanilla swiss meringue at the end which gave you lovely jewel-like pieces of raspberries peeking through the buttercream - so pretty! I highly encourage you to try both the dark chocolate cupcake and the raspberry meringue buttercream - so richly wonderful!!

Blue and Red First Birthday Cupcakes

These were fun little cupcakes to work on, coordinating to the party decorations! I also made a small buttercream smash cake for the Birthday boy, but of course failed to get a picture of that (argh!) There were chocolate (not pictured) as well as vanilla cupcakes, all with vanilla buttercream frosting and fondant toppers.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cupcakes

So, these came about when I had both some leftover chocolate cupcakes and strawberry swiss meringue buttercream from my Nephew's cake and realized...I've never done a chocolate/strawberry combination! Well, I couldn't let that stand! Chocolate espresso cupcakes with strawberry swiss meringue buttercream, a fresh strawberry or two and a quick drizzle of melted dark chocolate! Ah, much better!

Batman Comic Birthday

Ah, how I've looked forward to this! My little Nephew turns four this year, and this year's theme is Batman! (Last year he had the Toy Story 3 cake) I knew the exact cake I wanted to attempt for him this year (with matching cupcakes of course!) A beautiful design by The Designer Cake Co! The cake was fluffy vanilla with fresh strawberry swiss meringue buttercream filling, covered in fondant with fondant details (the "POW!" was a fondant/gum paste combination). Then I made chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting and topped them with fondant toppers! So, so happy with how everything turned out and can't wait to see his face when he sees everything! :)

Fireman Birthday Cake

This was a fun little cake to do! Vanilla buttermilk cake with vanilla buttercream filling, iced in buttercream. I formed the dalmatian, fireman's helmet and fire hose from fondant. This being my first time sculpting a dog...I was quite pleased he ended up looking like one! :)

Black & White Birthday

I'll admit, the request for a black and white Birthday cake threw me at first when trying to come up with a design on this one, but it finally hit me that at least for me this time - simple and elegant fit the bill! Top tier was fresh strawberry cake with vanilla buttercream filling, bottom tier was chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream filling, all covered in fondant with fondant details. Very happy with how this lovely little cake turned out and hope this special lady has a wonderful 70th! :)

Coffee Indulgence Cake :)

I've been struggling with exactly what to call this cake...so this is the best I could come up with! ;) Because to me, that's what this cake is all about - coffee and just plain indulging! Rich, chocolate espresso cake with mounds of vanilla bean latte swiss meringue buttercream ruffles!
