Little Cowboy Baby Shower Cake

This sheet cake was made to match the bedding being used for the baby's nursery and it was a lot of fun to make the quilt in cake form! :) Yellow cake with vanilla buttercream icing - all the cutout details were made using fondant. I've included a picture of the quilt so you can compare the two!

Girly First Birthday Cake

This cake was for a special little girl's First Birthday! :) Mom wanted the cake to match the party decorations, so that's what we did! Chocolate cake, chocolate ganache filling, vanilla buttercream icing and fondant/gum paste details. My absolute favorite part of this cake - the bugs (who knew they could be so doggone cute?!)

Day at the Beach Anniversary Cake

I really enjoyed planning this cake! The couple this cake was for were actually married at the beach and they have the sweetest little cottage they sneak away to as much as possible so I thought, what better way to celebrate 40 years than with a little piece of the beach? The cake was butter yellow, vanilla buttercream filling and icing and crushed graham cracker "sand". The chairs, fence and shells were all gum paste - I added a little touch of shimmer by painting the shells with white shimmer dust. You can almost feel the ocean breeze...

Sunflower Cupcakes

These were just made for the fun of it! :) I'd made the royal icing sunflowers a couple weeks back thinking I'd end up using them for something and when I decided to make cupcakes last night I thought, why not? It's the perfect time of year for sunflowers! The cupcakes were yellow cake topped by a swirl of white vanilla buttercream icing and a royal icing sunflower.

Love Me Do!

This Beatles' song was running through my head ever since I got this order! :) Beatles drum Birthday cake for a special Dad! The cake was a white cake with vanilla buttercream icing between the layers, white fondant for the drum face and black fondant for the sides. I used black colorflow icing for all the lettering on the top and used fondant pieces for all the trim work on the side of the cake painted with silver luster dust. This was quite the project, but I enjoyed EVERY bit of it!

Softball Team Celebration Cake

This was a fun one to do - a sheet cake celebrating a Girl's Fast-Pitch softball team's Championship! Cake was a simple yellow cake with vanilla buttercream icing and fondant accents. The team colors were red, white and blue and they had stars on their jerseys so the cake took on an Independence Day feel!

Gold/Brown Topped Cupcakes

These cupcakes were done for my Mother-in-Law's Birthday - her name is Susan, so I added an "S" to some of the cupcake toppers! They were red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing and brown/pink fondant toppers. I added gold accents using gold luster dust - I think that really made the toppers stand out! Thanks for looking! :)

Dots and Stripes Birthday Cake

This cake I did as a practice run for my Daughter's birthday cake. Her request (as of the present time!) is for a two-tier, Carolina blue and white, dots on the top tier cake. I had sketched something out on paper, but I really wanted to give it a go on an actual cake - hence today's cake! I covered the cake completely in fondant - top tier in Carolina blue, bottom tier in white. I then used white dots on the top tier and blue stripes on the bottom. I added alternating blue and white balls to trim the bottom of each tier and finished it off with a white fondant plaque bearing Taylor's name! Still up for discussion is whether we will top the cake with a blue gum paste "7" or if we'll use a white gum paste crown bearing a number "7". Feel free to add your vote as a comment! :o) *As you can see I did update this post showing the finished cake complete with a gum paste crown!*

The flowers are gum paste painted with a little shimmer dust for dimension, the branches are brown fondant and each tier is surrounded by a brown ribbon. Thanks for looking! :o)

Graduate Cake Squares

These were cake squares I did for a 5th grade graduation - yellow cake, vanilla buttercream icing and some cute pics from Wilton! They were fun to do and I'm really happy with how they turned out, but WOW! What a process as there were 150 squares needed! :o)

Duke Birthday Cake

Well, this weekend was a first - not only did I make a Carolina Birthday cake, but also a Duke one! This was chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream filling, icing and details. Worked out really well with the Birthday guy's name being "Donnie"! Would loved to have had more time to work on this one, but ah well - being a last minute order this was about all I had time for. Hopefully next time I can get more detailed! :)

Carolina Birthday Cakes

These cakes were done for a special Carolina Girl's 11th Birthday! The sheet cake was yellow cake with vanilla buttercream icing and fondant cutout lettering. The round cake was chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream filling and icing and buttercream details.
